Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA)
The Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) is an international organization for families who own and enjoy the recreational use of motor homes. With more than 100,000 active member families, FMCA is the world's largest motor home owners group. Since 1963 FMCA has issued more than 400,000 memberships to families who look to the association as their source of information about all facets of motor home ownership and travel. Foremost, and irreplaceable, are the fun and friendship shared by people who enjoy the common interest of motor home travel. The Association is rich in the tradition of FMCA members extending hands of genuine friendship to one another.
|South Texas Renegades Chapter (STR)
South Texas Renegades (STR) is in the South Central Region of the Family Motor Coach Association . There are 10 regions in all. The area associations are designed to promote communication between FMCA and all chapters within the areas.
As motor-coachers we love to travel, see the country, enjoy nature and visit with all of the wonderful people we meet along the way.
The South Texas Renegades rally schedule includes nine rallies per year held the weekend in which the second Friday of each month occurs, omitting June, July and December. Rallies are held within a 250-mile radius of Houston. Club membership consists of 79 member coaches with a mix of people still involved in the working world and retirees.
We are an active group of people who enjoy visiting with each other, sight-seeing, shopping at rally areas, playing games such as Poker, Pegs and Jokers, Farkel, etc. and sharing of RV maintenance/troubleshooting ideas and topics.
Food, of course, is a big part of each rally with a Thursday night supper, Friday morning breakfast, Friday evening supper, Saturday morning breakfast and Saturday evening supper included in the rally fee. On Friday's we have a Red Hat/Romeo (Romeo - Retired Old Men Eating Out) lunch at an area restaurant. That's right - we gals include our sweethearts in the fun.
Typically rally participants number from 20 to 40 coaches thereby allowing all members to socialize and become better acquainted with each other. For 2012 our rally locations include Elmendorf (San Antonio), Gladewater, Stonewall, The Woodlands, Kerrville, Montgomery, Ingram and Bandera. All locations offer a variety of interesting things to do including tourist attractions, local history, shopping or just relaxing. Many members arrive by Monday or Tuesday before a rally making it a rally week instead of just a rally weekend. Early arrivals enjoy visiting and going out together to area restaurants.
We invite you to come join us or just to visit if you are passing through an area where we have a rally scheduled. Rally dates are listed, along with contact information, in the Association Calendar section of Family Motor Coaching magazine and on the FMCA website.
If you have a question don't hesitate to call or email our Membership Chairman, Bob Avella at: Phone: 210-646-9560 or Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
|From time to time, I will insert some news that I think you would all like to know about.

FMCA is closing out’s it’s 50th anniversary celebration and the South Texas Renegades are about to begin our 35th year!
We have nine great rally’s planned and our October gathering at Hill Country RV Resort in New Braunfels, Texas will be the site of our anniversary celebration.
Larry Ebest, our First Vice President, has done a great job of pulling together a list of great venues for next year’s rallys. Many of the parks Larry has scheduled for 2014 are locations where STR the club has never held a rally or, at least, it’s been a few years. This should provide some variety to our events over the coming year.
We have had great support from the membership in getting the slots filled for all the Wagonmaster and Assistant Wagonmaster positions over the coming year. At present, we still have openings for two Wagonmasters – September at Johnson City, Texas and the November Christmas gathering at Port Lavaca. Anyone interested in stepping up for either of those Rallys should contact Don Thomson, our newly elected Second Vice President.
Please note that the first rally in the new year has been relocated from American RV Park in Corsicana to Rustic Creek Ranch (Jelly Stone) in Burleson, Texas. Our Wagonmasters will still be Mark and Brenda Scherback assisted by the Gordon’s and the Richey’s. We need a large turnout to get the year off to a great start.
For 2014, FMCA is returning to a two rally format for the national gatherings with the first 89th Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase scheduled to take place in Perry, Georgia on March 17th to 20th, 2014. In August, the 9th Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase will kick off at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond, Oregon. The South Texas Renegades will be represented at Redmond by our newly elected National Director, Don Stone.
The Six State Rally will take place a bit later than usual, kicking off on October 1st and running through October 5, 2014 at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds in Shreveport, Louisiana. As in past years, we would expect our STR members to have a good turnout for Six State.
Our Chapter starts the year with about 76 active coaches. All members are reminded that your $10 annual dues need to be paid to the Chapter Treasurer – Bridget Wiemkin. You can bring Bridget a check to the January rally or mail your check to her attention.
Linda and I look forward to seeing all of you at lots of rallys over the coming year. Come hungry.
Our January Rally in Corsicana has been changed to the Burleson.
